“The Medicine Voice”
I attended Michel Pascal’s “The Medicine Voice” at Carnegie Hall expecting basically a concert but was treated to so much more. Since that evening I became aware of Michel’s interest in meditation and stress. The evening started with being told that every forty seconds there is a suicide somewhere in the world, a pretty shocking statistic. The idea of the evening was to provide wonderful soothing and meditative music played by Myron McKinley the music director of Earth Wind and Fire and his trio.as well philosophical thoughts presented by Deepak Chopra and others. I found insightful Michel’s message about meditating when immersed in a stressful situation rather than waiting for a calm period. Basically, the message that night was that an individual can be alone but must not be lonely. Connecting with people whether face to face, phone, email, or texting is essential. Additionally, the concept of accepting oneself and valuing oneself was espoused and of course resonated with me. That’s exactly the strongest message in my novel, The Unexpected Connection, to value one’s self-worth, to not let one self be denigrated, and to find one’s authentic self. This is so true in all facets of life….Don’t you agree?
