An Amazing Afternoon
I was one of three authors at the annual Brandeis Author/Book Luncheon in Scarsdale. Interestingly, there was a true connection between the three of us. Besides all of us having two females as protagonists, one author attended an elementary school where my cousin was principal and the other author’s daughter was a friend of a cousin of mine. What are the odds?
It was fun seeing that I had the complete attention of the ladies when I discussed the motivation for writing my novel, my biography, and a synopsis of the novel. At the end of the luncheon was when I totally enjoyed myself. Many of the women expressed that they thought the message of the novel that women must value their self-worth and resist being denigrated by anyone was very relevant to our times. But it was the stories that I heard that validated the message. We laughed together over the dating sagas that we shared. It was very cathartic. I believe it is important for women to share their stories in order to understand that they are not alone in having dating misadventures and that it is not necessarily who they are or that they did anything wrong that caused the dating fiascos. If you’d like to share your story or stories, please do. But in the end, remember to love yourself and value who you are.
